Default Major problems....

I have been having an issue for a while now, the car used to say service traction control, and reduced engine powere and run limp at a top speed next to nothing. SO I had to pull over and unplug the harness for the tps and re plug it back in. Things worked fine doing that for a while. Then, one of my belts came off and ripped out the blue throttle wire, so.. I connected it back. It worked for a few days, then did the same. One of my friends came over with his snap on hand held and it ran for 3 days. On the 4th day, same thing.. Won't run worth a crap It's throwing codes p1120, p1221, c1278, c1160, and c2120. When I clear them from the dtc the p codes stay there. Here's a video of the car being stupid. http://s47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...90516-1140.flv

Your having issues with the Throttle By Wire system. Specifically the Throttle Position Sensor, Sensor wiring harness and or connector. That is one of the things that will cause "Reduced Engine Power"

I strongly recommend that you carefully examine all that wiring, the connectors and the TB Motor wiring.

How did you reconnect the wires??? Please dont say wire splices.

I bought a new pigtail and butt connected them then heat shrunk over the connections so there's a good connection... Do you think the tps sensor went bad? If so how much do they cost?

You can use an ohm meter to read the sensor. A sensor that accurate is best to use an analog ohm meter but if you dont have one a digital one will do. Just move the arm slow enough to watch a smooth change on the meter.

There should ba a CONSTANT reading without any dips or spikes in the readings as the armature is moved. One side of the sensor is HIGH resistance going low and the other is low going HIGH

Well, I replaced the tps and it didn't fix. I can't clear out all of the codes, 2 stay on when I clear them from the DIC and my friend brought his Modus home from work and we can't clear them from there either... p1120, and 1221 won't go away!!!

Have you followed any of Bill's suggestions, or are you just swapping parts ?

Is there a possibility that my aftermarket cam and heads are doing this? I haven't gotten a tune for it but I have been running it for about 5 months and haven't had any problems. I was getting the reduced engine power before but only 2 times and 8 months and it went away.

I did follow his suggestion and my friend had a hook up with parts and said just to replace it and if it was the problem i could keep the sensor. if not, i'll get my cash back...

let's see; you swapped heads and cam and didn't get it tuned? You received expert advice and then chose to ignore it and swap some parts?

lets see... i tested it. it was fine. still replaced it to make sure my eyes were correct. didn't work. came back to ask more questions cause i hit a dead end... didn't ask for smart a$$ remarks, just an enthusiast with questions that doesn't wanna get raped by the dealer. i think there's a problem with the throttle actuator controll module?!? i think that's what it's called, it's in the psngr side behind the wheel well..

I've been waiting to get the car tuned from a guy for a while, just waiting on him to come to my area.
