I just bought a 99 FRC recently. It came with a Hypertech programmer. I read the booklet and decided to plug the programmer in. Right away it started reading the current program in my car. It reached 99% and the alarm in the car started beeping and the DIC read "reduced engine power" I was then prompted to turn the ignition off and unplug the programmer. I took the car for a drive and it doesn't seem like I lost any power but I may have a whining noise coming out of the motor. The noise may be because the motor wasn't really warm. Should I be alarmed or is this normal? Any help is appreciated.

May be coming from the motor? Can you isolate the noise?

You should not have any whining noise at all, regardless if the engine is warm or not. Does it go away, or is it constant? You will have to be more specific. For all I know, what you are hearing is the AIR pump turn on.
Thanks for the help. As for the noise "whining" I just took the car for a drive and the higher gear I go the quieter the car is. It is barely noticeable in 5th, and can't hear anything in 6th, gear. Car is shifting fine and behaving as normal. I just recently bought the car so maybe I just noticed the noise today but I doubt it. Any ideas?
