Hey All,
Need some more help
2000 Manual
Ill just be driving along in no particular driving style, and the traction control kicks in. Must disable it to continue driving again. Doesnt do it in competetive driving mode though. Sensor? Computer? I have a 2002 Z06 parts car. R the parts compatible or have any of u guys had this problem
Your rear tires are nearly 1/2" shorter in height (diameter) than the fronts, and this will cause traction control engagement problems like you are experiencing.
Traction control works by comparing front and rear wheel speeds, and by altering the tire size and front/rear size ratio, you have effectively confused the system into "seeing" the rear wheels spinning faster than the fronts.
On a stock car, the rear tires are about 1.1" taller than the fronts...and although you can run less than that height difference successfully, running tires taller on the front then what's on the rear is a sure bet to cause TC engagement in normal driving.
305/30/19 would be a much better choice for a rear tire size...but in the interim, about the only thing you can do is shut off TC (or put it in comp mode) before driving.
Now that u said that, it makes perfect sense. I looked at the size u mentioned and passed because the wider tire was cheaper. I was thinkin it would grab a little better. I was disappointed when I recieved the tires and relized how small the sidewall was. Thats what i get for not doing my homework.
Thank U
