Default Autometer D-Pic & Shift Light wiring - HELP!

I'm installing the Autometer Cobalt D-PIC & Stage 2 shift light in A-Pillar pods on my '02 Z06. I need to find the instrument cluster wire so that the guage illumination will decrease @ night with the lights on - I've spent all day w/a probe and volt meter under the dash and think I've found all the wires I need to use except 2. I found these wires in Flyin Bryan's illustration just to the L of the steering column. There are indeed 3 whites - 1 appears to be the tach - when grounded & probed the tach needle jumps. I get no voltage at all out of the other 2 whites. I need to find the instrument panel light wire and I need to connect one of the stage 2 wires to either a brake light wire or clutch disconnect wire. On the clutch there is a bright yellow and a purple - I've tried my best w/the ig on and the switch depressed and can't get voltage. (This should be no surprise - I've always thought elictricity was "FM" - friggi'n magic). Yes I know - Autometer - and I have a brand new Raptor in the trunk if I don't like this. HELP - please if you have time.

Many Thanks - bojangles5169

ps - I used Flyin Bryan's diagrams which were wonderful but those were for a Raptor install - They don't show the instrument cluster wire unless I missed it and he had no need to address the clutch switch on the Raptor.
