I'm wondering now after doing a bit of research about what material and type of bushing to get. I do not race the car. I see some people have been getting the VBP systems but it is expensive........just a thought but I think I may not get the full benefit of something like that.
Yea, If you have a C5 Z06 with suspension, the sway bar is 1.18in or (29.97mm), rear is 0.85in or (21.59mm). Zip has both fr & rr:
ZIP part number for front is SU-1127 (30mm)
ZIP part number for reer is SU-1106 (22mm)
PS: And the Front and Rear bushing both have cuts in them for easy installation as well as the white grease that comes to lub. them. Good luck..
Jodyeastman:
Zip has them, C5 Z06 front & rear sway bar are front 1.18in or (29.97mm), Rear are 0.85in or (21.59mm). Zip has them, here they are:
Front SU-1127 30mm
Rear SU-1106 22mm
Holes are rounded out to be a tad larger as not to creek or groan, add the white grease and your good to go. PS both bushings are cut to ease installation and thus prevent the removal of the sway bars from the vehicle. Just unbolt mount and swap & grease away your noise problems. I'll be doing my tomorrow. Good Luck..
Has anyone tried to just spray silicone lube on the sway bar bushing, let it sit awhile. My 99 vette just started doing that same noise over speed bumps as well. I may order new aftermarket polyurethane bushings for the front and rear to really resolve this problem. Thanks guys for the help.... what timing...
It won't last. The lasting fix is to remove the bushing and grease the inside of it. Goop up your finger with grease and spread it all around the inside of the bushings. You can also buy bushings that have a grease fitting too.
Update, put in the front and rear, it was very easy. Cleaned the bar, put the new bushings on and reverse process. One thing I notices on the stock old bushings, GM engineered them very well. They had some kind of material put between the sway bar and bushing a kinda of cloth weave material. Water getting into this and the fact that it is not able to lube caused the noise. The new bushings are jut Poly with the white sticky grease supplied, I'm sure in a few years this will dry out as well and I'll be under lubing it again. May do the zerk fitting I read about on this forum, sounds logical.
Gentlemen, I ordered a pair Front & Rear from Zip Corvette, best price around so far, $14.95 a pair.. If your C5 is a 97-09 and stock Coup (meaning not a Z06) or upgraded suspension. Front sway bar will be 23mm and rear will be 19mm then here are the part number from Zip Corvette.
Front 23mm SU-1103......$14.95
Rear 19mm SU-1105......$14.95
Add approx. $9.50 for UPS shippment, and your good to go..
There are new polyurethane bushings. Maximize your suspensions potential with quicker responses and predictable performance each time. These bushings are impregnated with graphite to prevent SQUEAKS. Black only. Sold in pairs. Fits 97-09 Corvette.
Just got them put on for $25.00 labor, did the trick for my car, Thanks
Guys, I know this is a bit dated, but I also have the gosh awful creaking sound in my '02 C5. It was perfectly fine and ran like a top with only 27 k on the odometer when i bought her in the summer of '08. Over the winter I did a complete front and rear brake job and sort of detailed each wheel well with simple green then a protectant on the rubber parts, but I sprayed liberally so I'm sure it went everywhere. I did wipe it down before reassembly. From the first ride in the spring right up until the last ride a week ago, the creaking and groaning were present, only less so as the tires are about shot and the noise nearly drowns the creaking out. In a related post referenced linked by Timebender, the writer wrote:
Just don't spray that silicone on the leaf spring mounts or you may get a major groan every time the car moves up or down........don't ask how I know
I wonder if it's the protectant I sprayed on rather than worn bushings...? The car was silent until I did this. She's going up on blocks next weekend for the the winter so will pull wheels for new tires and take the opportunity to get rid of this creak.
Assuming I got protectant on the leaf spring mounts, whats the fix? Silicone? New bushings? Both? Should I do the bushings while she's up on blocks as a matter of course? They certainly are cheap enough and I can do the work myself.. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Reason: typo
I just installed the Zip Poly bushings and squeaks and graons are gone. Replaced the links too as thye were also shot. Nice way to get to know the underside of your vette, even at 67...me.
