Re: Ls1Edit users AND Stve Cole programming. (nevrenuf)
Ok I am a lil confused on the gear scaling thing now :(
So the locked version does not have gear scaling? If this is so, does this mean I will not be able to correct the speedo if I put in 4.10??
I can put 4.10's in and change the shift points on the A4 though and be good to go, right??? Or am I going to have problems putting 4.10's in??
thanks :D
Re: Ls1Edit users AND Stve Cole programming. (intel55)
Gear scaling has nothing to do with the speedo. Speed is read on the C5 from the output shaft/axle past the gears. Regardless of your gear change, the speed will read correctly.
On the other hand, the correct gear ratio does effect shift changes in the PCM for an automatic. Hence you either need to adjust your shift points maunally in the shift table, or, put the correct gear ratio in the PCM.

Kewl... I own the locked version and it does not provide either gear or tire scaling for my 2000.... I have spoken to Ken and he indicated that tire and gear scaling were intentionally disabled and upon reflection, tire scaling would be added back in but gear scaling would not. Ken sees no reason to add gear scaling for Corvettes. He and I have exchanged numerous emails on the subject.. after awhile, I just dropped the subject.
The program does provide a wealth of features however. I am very pleased with it so far!

I guess I am puzzled by Ken's stance on this. I've always found it to be a true pain the rear to maintain multiple software product lines with unnecessarily different functional features while maintaining a shared code base. Maybe it has something to do with the VIN, who knows...
At any rate I would love to see, from Carputing, a clear feature list for each version of the product so that I can better determine which way I want to go. The current feature list touts gear scaling and I would be very unhappy if I was surprised to discover that it didn't in fact have that feature if that was part of why I purchased it. Remember all those unhappy 2001 SuperChips folks? Some may think this is a nit since there's a workaround but I think accurate advertisements are a good thing. I look forward to becoming an "LS1-Edit ****" :D

I talked with Ken earlier, and the home user version should have the same functionality as the tuner version as of now. I was in the car, so didn't have the ability to look at my screens for particulars. He and will be talking again this afternoon somemore on othere tuning issues.
Re: Ls1Edit users AND Stve Cole programming. (dogdoc)
dogdoc,
What I've found first hand, is if your PCM has the latest GM rev, they will not flash it for pay or otherwise. I bought a brand new PCM and loaded the stock program and tables with the latest GM patches when we started the LS1 Edit tuning.
I've got my bone stock program tables, and every revision we've made to date so I can go to any rev (which we document in minute detail) for a specific purpose. We are currently working a daily driver version, and a race day version which I can simply switch back and forth between.

KB:
Where did you get the new PCM (valvegod?) and how much did you pay? I hear that the '98 sell for about $250 and the others sell for bewtween $150-200.
I think I will get an extra PCM in case I nuke the first one :D

Good point. Folks should be aware that some PCM's will be nuked from time to time when flashing them. Even a flawless PCM has a limited number of reflash attempts. Probably on the order of 1000. But thats not gaurateed. I am curious if shops that will be using LS1-Edit have any disclaimers in place if they fry someones PCM due to no fault of their own. Because this WILL come up as more and more people start flashing.
