Default T-stat question...retrofit?

I have an 03 C5Z...and as you all know, the T-stat is integrated into the housing and they cost about $60. On the 04 C5Z, the T-stat and housing are separate, just as they are in the C6's, and cost about $20 to replace. Can I retrofit an 04 C5Z T-stat housing to my car in order to run the $20 replacement T-stats? Is it a straight bolt on, or is there more to it?

Why not just run an LS2 or newer water pump ?

I paid $36 for my 160* thermostat, where are you buying a thermostat from?

Default Also a TS question

I replaced a '98 water pump with a new (GM) pump and the 160 TS that came with my Novi kit wont fit into the cavity in the new pump.

What's with that?

I asked mine because the stock unit is very easy to tune and open/run at lower temps. If you are simply seeking for it to open at a lower temp than that can be accomplished for about $1.
