I have not used the Hypertech but I love my Predator. They have a good forum on their website that provides great customer support. Be sure if you're buying a used one you get a newer version that is capable of downloadable updates and is of course unlocked. I bought mine through Southern Car Parts which is also an excellent supporting vendor here.

Predator. Does more. Better bang for the buck. They will also write you custom tunes if needed in the future. If you go used be informed and careful. If you get a locked one you're most likely out some cash.

I as well. If what you're wanting is an easy to use menu-driven device. the Predator is it.

Though, PC based programs allow almost limitless tuning - but there's a learning curve with a laptop based product. All depends on if you have the time required to learn all the bells & whistles... and get a feel for those types.

For what it does the predator is pretty cool. I have one and would buy it again. They have recently made a change to allow data logging for our cars that would help you even further if you wanted to make any fine adjustments. If you plan on doing just some basic mods and you have a A4 it's worth the money. Plus they can be found on the net for very close to $300 then than the $399 you see advertised around.
