My A/C has stopped working on my C5. It didn't come on once last saturday and I turned the system off and back on and it did come back on. Monday it did not work at all. I tried to check for voltage everywhere I could and swapped out the relay but problem persisted. I went to check voltage at the compressor after the car cooled and got 14v. After the car cooled again, the compressor did kick on. Is there a common place I should look for this intermittent probelm. When the compressor kicks on, the A/C works great.
Could be low pressure switch cutting it off or could be the compressor clutch going bad or a loose connection to the clutch. when it is not working you can unplug the low pressure switch and short across he terminals in the plug. if the compressor comes on either the freon is low or the switch is bad.
Thanks for the responses. The freon is not low at all. I was able to check it yesterday. It worked the last two times I checked. I will check the pressure cutoff switch the next time it doesn't work. I am sure that will be Monday on the way home from work at 90 degrees.
I have a similar problem...does yours lose power completely? Or does your fan continue to blow and just no ac? Mine loses power completely. Works when it wants to! Sorry no answers for you just wondering if how similar are the ac problems?

Same here when it s very hot over 90, it stops working completely, 5 min. later comes back on 10 min. later turns itself off. And I have a low dim on the face of the ac as well. I did take it off and opened it up yesterday.I read a thread long time ago about resoldiring the 8 main connections. I found em on the back of the ac units panel, they r obvious. I ll use the soldiring iron today. i don`t know if this will fix the problem. if it won`t there is one guy on e bay he fixes ac units for a reasonable price, all u do is send it to him....That`s my last option.....
I`ll let u guys know, if I can fix the problem today.
Take care
