LS6 Valve Springs
I have a 2000 LS1 with 2004 LS6 heads, cam and intake.
I broke a valve spring going down the highway at 75MPH in 6th gear.
I have been doing a search and have read the LS6 valve spring is a ticking time bomb.
Some of the rocker trunions appear to be sloppy.
The car has 47,000 miles on it not sure how many miles on the heads.
I have 2 questions.
Are the LS6 springs prone to failure?
Are the rockers a problem also?
Thanks Tim

I have seen several occasions where someone has reported a failure of the yellow Z06 valve springs. As for the rockers, this has been occasional as well but it does happen. I think as you push them harder with aftermarket parts you also increase the likelihood of a rocker failure.

Thanks Vettenuts. These are not the yellow springs. The heads are 04 heads and have dual springs. Pics below of what I found.

Sorry guys you are correct. I was told these were 04 heads. Summit and GMpartsdirect show dual springs.

No GM head ever came stock with dual springs. Unsure what you are looking at, sounds like a modified version.
No matter, get a set of Comp 918s or PAC 1218s, swap the springs, and enjoy.

Thanks for all the help guys.
Summit shows part number 12586484 as a dual spring for an 04 LS6. I just assumed this was the stock spring.

Weird...I googled that part #, and most links call it a dual spring, while picturing a beehive.
I think the confusion comes in because they are listing the I.D. dimensions for the bottom and top of the spring (which are different diameters with a beehive) but calling them inner spring and outer spring I.D. dimensions.
One official typo goes a long way on the 'net.
