Default Which X-Pipe?

I just installed a set of Corsa Xtremes on my C5 last night. They sound pretty good but are very gurgly/poppy to the point that it is almost constant under deceleration. I understand that installing an X-Pipe will greatly reduce the gurgly/poppy sounds. Is there any reason to choose one brand of x-pipe over another (Corsa, Borla, Magnanflow, Bassani)?

Also, what is the REAL difference between a $300-$500 name-brand x-pipe versus $60 EBay Item 310148365044 and simply having a muffler shop weld it in place of the current H-section?

Any help is greatly appreciated! I'm simply trying to be a frugal vette owner

Thanks.

The smother the flow of the pipes the better performance. Dents, bends, and kinks can cause turbulance in the exhaust flow, and then restrict performance. How much? not a lot but some

Put the x-pipe as far back as you can, This should help increase your torque a bit.

Will the x-pipe stop the pop n gurgle on decel? No Pop-n-gurgle is most cases is unburnt fuel that is re ignited int eh HOT exhaust pipes.

If you dont like pop-n-gurgle and LOUD, keep the stock exhaust.

No idea if there is a real difference between X pipes........but
I have CORSA Pace Cars on my 99.....had a lot of motorboat sounds at idle and pops at decel......I really didn't mind. But a neighbor gave me an almost new MagnaFlow X pipe so I installed it. Now all those motorboat sounds at idle and pops at decel are gone. Just smooth, powerful exaust notes.

I fitted a bassani crosspipe after the BB were on for some time, did change the tone and eliminated some of the popping but sounds more smooth

Probably any x-pipe will do. FYI, If you are going to purchase headers in the near future check to see if they come with an x-pipe (AR Headers do). It may keep you from buying two x-pipes

Nothing. There's no difference. When you see it you'll laugh. It's literally two open pipes that are welded together. There will be no difference in performance whatsoever unless one is a 3 inch and the other is a 1/4 inch.

I picked up a used Bassani because I've always heard that the best ones were the "true x" design because they are supposed to increase torque, exhaust scavenging, blah blah blah...

I picked mine up for less than half of a new one, and what I do know is that the motorboat sound is gone, and there's no popping to speak of on decel. Yes you can pick up a fleabay x section to install in the stock h pipe; and I'm sure it's no better or worse than buying a whole x pipe kit. One nice feature about the whole x pipe that slips on after the cats, is that it makes for an easier time when you need to drop the drivetrain out for a clutch or diff swap.

I have the Magnaflow X pipe with my Corsa Pace Car system and it works really well. No more motorboat sound and still no drone on the highway.

Not exactly correct. There are differences in the manufacturing of the x-pipe designs out there.

Some have a true cross over pipe and others are two pipes with a hole in the middle. Bassani and Magnaflow will prob flow better than others

According to this article, the stock H-pipe whole is less than 1/2 inch!

Thanks guys for all of the good info! I am primarily interested in reducing the deceleration pop/gurgle so it sounds like an X-pipe is the solution.

Guys with the MagnaFlow pipes -- Is it a a "full X-pipe" or just the 1-foot-long section as seen here: http://www.autoanything.com/exhausts...A2672A0A0.aspx ?

Thanks again!

Also, please forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is an "Off-Road" X-Pipe versus a "regular" X-Pipe?

Thanks!

"Off-Road" deletes the cats, thus making it illegal for highway use.

Sounds good to me! What is the condition (dents, rust, etc) of the Corsa x-pipe? How many miles? Can you send pics to kevinjmorris@gmail.com along with the cost of shipping to 45342?

Thanks!

x-pipes will also make an aggressive exhaust sound less aggressive
