No sir. You can swap the cam with the engine installed and it really is not that bad of a job. I just did one 3 weeks ago and taking my sweet time I completed it over the course of a friday night and saturday morning. You do have to pull the steering rack out of the way to get to the balancer, but other than a few tight lines it slides out of the way pretty easily.

If you do a search for cam install there are some good threads documenting what needs to be removed. Actually, if you look for a recent thread - I think it is titled "heads, cam swap + pictures" or something like that, there are some great pictures on the first page of the teardown. It is a yellow Z06 and the thread is like 18 pages long. At any rate, good luck and dont drop a lifter!

as the others said, no you don't. You can either slide the steering rack out of the way or drop the front cradle while the engine is on stands. I dropped the cradle, didn't take long like some people say it does, but either way you can leave the engine where it sits.

Details the steps but some of his instructions are questionable/incorrect/unnecessary.

You don't need more replies. Instead, you only need refer to the corvette service manual for cam replacement/removal. Even if this goofball followed the service manual to the letter, he would only have to remove the heads to access the lifters.....not remove the engine.

If you plan on legal action, then you will need a 2000 service manual for reference.

Tough lesson learned.....good luck.
