Have any of you disconnected the coolent by-pass from the throttle body? Is it worth the trouble? I read that the by-pass will keep the incomming air cooler. If I put in a by-pass do I need to block the open ports on the throttle body?
Thanks
I did it. Didn't notice any difference whatsoever (didn't expect to, really). It does cool the air a bit...I didn't cap the the coolant pipes on the TB till long after I did the mod. I went to Autozone, and they sell a package of rubber/vinyl caps...
If I drove the vette in freezing or near freezing temps, I probably wouldn't have bothered doing it...

I guess I'm in good company. Did it on my '99. Figured that since I live in the south and rarely see temps below 30 degrees it couldn't hurt.
Interesting to see they eliminated it on the C6.
Just ask yourself how long air spends in the throttle body. It's a fraction of a second....not long enough to pick up any heat. Coolant is run through the throttle body to ensure the blade doesn't freeze in extreme cold. This mod is of zero value except to the stores that sell you the parts to do it.
