Default Lets play name that part (w/Pics)!

My BCM just fried from water getting into the passenger side. I took everything apart and cleaned all the drain tubes out. Now, After pulling everything apart, I can't figure what or where this tube is suppose to go. Anyone know what this is or where it goes? From what I can tell, it shoots off from the wiring harness and goes underneath the battery into a rectangular cube and comes out. The end I am holding in my hand is the piece that has come from the cube. Anyone got a clue? Thanks.

Me holding the Item I can't yet identify.

I can look tomorrow but it looks to me like it goes to the vacuum controls in the dash for the HVAC .Is your system stuck on defrost only ? Dual zone HVAC or manual/w ***** ? See this post, further down for more details.

I think that goes to a vacumm canister deal behind the R fender. I have **** controls and mine was stuck on defrost, and if i remember right I found there was a nipple just like that broke off the tank? This was many beers ago so its pretty vague.

If its the line already mentioned, it goes to the rear of the intake at the MAP sensor. Without it, you'll have messed up HVAC controls as well as a vacuum leak.

I'm almost done. Got a use BCM today and started to put the car back together. I tried finding the end of the vacuum line on the intake manifold but wasn't successful. Has anyone ever replaced this hose from the manifold or do they just cut it and splice in. From reading some posts, it sound like people were running a line from the intake manifold down but I can't see how they did it considering its nearly impossible to stick a hand behind there. I had my girlfriend reach and she could just barely touch it.

Since I could get the hose off from the manifold I started chasing the hose back through the harness. I ended up having to cut a lot of it harness protector as the hose was pretty much worthless. Every time I touched it, it would break. The line had holes and cracks all the way through.

I just barely installed the new BCM I got. Hooked it up and now i've got the service column lock. I found a post about how to reset the BCM so you could drive it to dealership but I can't seem to find it. Anyone know if I need to have this reprogrammed? Maybe I just need to install a CLB.

Take a look around main wire harness that you see in your pic for other end of hose,it should be either taped to the outside or on inside of the wire harness protector. It does go to back of intake.Good luck

That hose is a previous repair that was used to mend a damaged nylon vacuum hose. Your going to need to remove the intake manifold to properly repair this issue. Here is where it connects:

Heres the stock vacuum fittings. The rubber 90 deg fitting is the vacuum line you looking for:

THEN,,,,,,,,,,it runs thru the factory wiring harnesses with the wires and goes here " the passenger fender ":

Your car most likely had a bad acid spill that damaged the vacuum line. Is that acid damage still apparent?????????????

If so, you MUST deal with that before you go any further!

Is this what you're looking?

30 Minute Learn Procedure
1-Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2-Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start).
3-Observe the SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF.
4-Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
5-Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes (the vehicle is now ready to relearn the password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK).

Important
The vehicle learns the password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.

6-Start the engine (the vehicle has now learned the password).
7-With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed (history DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles).

Thanks for the info guys.

I reprogrammed the BCM using the technique described and got the car at least started. Looks like I need to take it over to the dealership to have it fully reprogrammed to fix some minor issues. The BCM I picked up had automatic headlights as an option so mine turn on every time I start my car.

The reprogramming I did looks like didn't fix my column lock though. I'm getting the dreaded fuel cut after 2mph now. How is the BCM and column lock related? What I am wondering if I take it to the dealer to have the BCM reprogrammed will it take care of the column lock issue? If not, what would be the best way to take care of the column lock? From what I was reading, it seems I have to take it to the dealer. I've got the 6spd and I can't get the column lock to turn off at all. Should I or can I fix issue before I take it into the dealer for this issue?

Issue fixed. installed a CLB and resetted the system and everything worked out. All that is left is to take it to the dealership to reprogram the PRO. Thanks guy.
