I'm re-covering a customer's seat from his 98 coupe. I've done my 2000 seats and noticed that there is a difference in the bolster design. The 98 has hinged "flaps" where as the 2000 has just inflatable bladders. Anyway the flap on the driver's side outer is broken right off. Does anyone have a recommended repair?? Or at least one that works?
Ive seen people use plastic epoxy and sandwich some plastic on both sides of the repair. The plastic on both sides of the crack will straighten the repair and make it very strong. I have also seen people glue some leather over the sharp edge of the bolster to help keep it from cutting through the seat cover
Excellent idea. I wasnt sure if epoxy was strong enough, but the re-enforcement idea is great. I guess i'll have to instruct the customer on proper vehicle entry strategies. Thanks for the reply

The ABSOLUTE BEST plastic epoxy that I have ever used is some from DEVCON. I got mine at Walmart. Its a two part epoxy specifically made for plastic in one of those twin surenges and the epoxy is yellow when mixed up . It STINKS like hell when you mix it but,,,,,it hold like crazy! Make sure that you properly rough up the plastic on the bolster and on the patch pieces before you glue them and make sure that it cures long enough before you stress it.

That may be easier to tell them than get them to do. I have told people about the proper way to enter a C5 for 12 years now and mostly I get comments like "I know how to get in and out of a car!!!"
Even when faced with a damaged seat they still blame the car instead of their butt and butt headedness.
