I own a 2000 with only 14000 mi. The "normal" left rear seal is dripping. I know there is a service bulletin issued. Is it worth to take it to a dealer to repair , normal costs, and do they really have a fix?
My 02 has the same issue but it is such an insignificant amount I just keep an eye on the fluid level (I have never had to add any so far)
Mine seems to leak only a few drops after the car has been driven in a spirited manner and parked. It doesn't bother me in the least and I just can't see having half the car taken apart to fix it.
If it bothers you get it fixed. If not, enjoy the car and don't worry about it unless it gets severe.
Sometimes after "spirited" driving I notice a leak from the left, driver's side, of the differential. Initially I thought it was a leaky output seal, but it turned out to be loss of a small amount of fluid through the vent, which is also located on the left, but on top of the differential. So the good news is that you may not have a seal leak after all.

The dealer will you with cost to do the repair. The newer replacement seals are better then what your Corvette came with and they do fix the problem. If you are mechnical at all, it's not that bad of a job with the right tools. For new seals, oil and other items needed, it cost me under $60. This is one of the better write-up on steps to fix it your self. http://www.cajundude.com/outputshaftseal.htm
Just did mine yesterday. If it's leaking it's leaking!. Don't ignore it as it will not get better on it's own. The updated bulletin from GM includes replacing the side cover gasket with the axle seal and install gasket sealer on the cover. This repair, if done as the bulletin states, is permenate. Parts will cost you around $125.00 including fluid and additive and labour should be in the $400.00 area. This job is a bitch to do but can be done yourself if you are mech. inclined but I do not recommend it.
If your don’t want to take it to the dealer, drive it till something blows up, it’s under warranty, that’s what I’d do, cause I don’t blame you, I won’t let a kid touch my car and the Chevy stores are full of retard kids!
I had my CV's done at the dealer not long ago and we did the "2nd design" seals. When I picked the car up he added that there is a small trans leak - so don't ignore that possibility either...
