Oh oh, you didn't do your research on GMPARTSDIRECT. Their reputation isn't well received unless it's finding parts that no other dealership can and/or GM says are discontinued. That comes at an expense. The company is part of FLOW CHEVROLET, Winston-Salem, NC, by the way.

Let me guess, you can't reach them by phone, none of your e-mails are returned, shipping expense is to high or you want to cancel your order.

Seriously, good luck with whatever the problem is.

when all is said and done, GMPD is cheaper than gene on every part. However, when there are problems, you'll be glad to go w/ Gene. Gene gets you parts faster but at an expense..

GMPD has always been a cheaper option than Gene, but they are more difficult to contact, via phone, should there be a question or issue. However, you can reach them at customerservice@gmpartsdirect.com (Floyd or Scott).

The following information is from their online sales policy:
  • Returns are not authorized after a 30 day period.
  • Once the order is placed, the order can not be altered or cancelled for any reason.
  • Special order and electrical parts are non-returnable so please verify your part numbers are correct.
  • Damage or shortage claims must be filed within 15 days of delivery.
  • All parts returned must be accompanied by the invoice and the RGA# and will be subject to the 20% and or minimum restocking fee.
Email response hours are from 9 to 6 est, Mon to Fri. Orders and emails after 3 pm Friday est. will not be processed until Monday. You can get their phone number from Flow Chevrolet Parts Department (888.550.3569).

NC residents will pay NC sales tax since GMPD is based in NC. They didn't charge me sales tax since I'm a VA resident. Gene Culley (GM Parts House) is based in PA, so PA residents will also have to pay sales tax.

Default Heres the problem

The problem is this. On 7/23 I tried to place an order for some brake parts. The order was cancelled twice BY THEM because of a problem validating my debit card(Gene had no problem with the same card). After having this happen twice I emailed them and told them NOT to try and reprocess the CANCELLED order again. On 7/28 they charged my card and shipped the parts. without knowing it until 7/30 I was charged 84.00 in insufficient funds charges as I had put just enough money in this acct to cover internet orders. Now I have 2 sets of parts and 84.00 worth of fees because they reprocessed the order that THEY had cancelled after being told not too.

Scoggin Dickey (sdparts.com (a huge GM parts dealer)) has always treated me in a great way and for many years. You might try them for comparison in the future. As for your extra parts, fight it by disputing it with your credit card company or post them up for sale.

I personally have had no problem with them, as long as you aren't in a hurry for your parts. Have made two purchases with them and the parts take around a week to get here.

I think their shipping&handling charges are BS but that is how they make their profit. And they are still the cheapest supplier I have found.

Now for my next order for my fuel card, I will order that through Gene because he has helped me via email confirm part numbers and such, he deserves the business.

Part of their shipping charge excess is because they order the customers parts from all over the country (from other GM dealers) using the GM database.

The customer pays for the shipping from the other dealer(s) back to GMPARTSDIRECT, and then to the customer. They don't ship direct from the supplying dealer(s) to the customer.

That also takes extra time from the time the order was placed. They're less expensive because they don't stock all of the parts themselves. They're a broker in effect. That's how they explained it to me.

When other dealers have told me that a certain part is no longer available, GMPARTSDIRECT has been able to find the part for me. They are valuable to some customers in that regard.

I agree - both vendors have their "+" and "-" which is why I've purchased from both in the past and will continue to do so. I also never had a bad experience with GMPD. However, it does take a couple days longer on average to receive parts from them.

I've compared prices w/ shipping on both of their sites before placing an order and 9 times out of 10, GMPD is cheaper. However, Gene is much easier to get a hold of if you have questions. New Info: I just placed an order for a part - here's a comparison:

19207384 – 97-04 C5 Front Bumper Emblem

GM Parts House (Gene): $61.49 + $8.95 = $70.44
GM Parts Direct (Flow): $49.19 + $12.95 = $62.14 (Saving $8.30 or 13%)

NOTE: Savings are typically more on higher priced items.

I happen to live in Winston-Salem where there are 2 chevy dealerships. The other one (not Flow) has anything you want in stock, so I have found. I'm lucky enough to have a wholesale number so I get parts at wholesale and no taxes.

We apologize that when you originally attempted to place your order on 7/14/09 the order cancelled due to a credit card type that we do not accept was entered. The order was attempted twice on 7/14/09 with a Discover card, we only accept Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, cashier checks and money orders. With the orders being attempted by a card type that we do not accept, the attempts where cancelled and not processed.

We do not process orders in any manner other than our verification procedure on our website. If an order does not pass the verification procedure, the order is not processed.

On 7/17/09 a new order was submitted by topless99 with a Visa card. This order from 7/17/09 was successfully processed and is the order that was shipped on 7/27/09. We are unable to process the 2 attempts from 7/14/09 due to they where attempted with a Discover card, the order, the order that was made on 7/17/09 and that was shipped was not made or charged to a Discover card.

topless99 please email or PM us so we can try to better assist you with your inquiry.
