Had a weird one the other day. Driving down the freeway with the cruise control on and all was fine. All of a sudden the cruise disconnected and the car slowed way down, possible stall. I continued without cruise and a minute later the made a huge hesitation, possibility another stall. Ran fine for the next ten miles until I pulled into town and the car totally stalled in the middle of the street....restarted and haven't had another problem. Any ideas? No codes at all, new battery, new battery cables and new ignition switch due to earlier problems. Don't trust the car once again

Here is my post from a while back. Bill helped with figuring out it was the ignition switch. I only drive the car once every two weeks or so....yea I'm bad. I live in the Pacific Northwest and it was unseasonably hot that day, 104 degrees. Don't know if that had anything to do with it or not.

When it happens,,,,,,you need to be more observant of your dash indications. Look at the DIC and Gages. Do they sweep like when you first insert the key and turn it on? Do you see CORVETTE BY CHEVROLET in the DIC?? Does the volt meter change??
This is such a vague symptom that I could tell you to check 30 different things.

Hi Bill, nice to hear from you again. Next time it happens I'll keep an eye on the DIC. I was a little startled when it happened, more concerned about keeping the car going. I did notice the voltage was fluctuating between 12.2 volts and 13.8 I assume it was from A/C and rad fans turning on and off in the heat?
Sort of sounds like the fuel pump quit on you. Bill should be able to tell you specifically where its ground is which is something that needs to be looked at. In your area where its wet most of the time, grounds exposed to the elements would be an issue.

That's very possible as well. The first time it did it, I was on the freeway with cruise engaged. When the engine stumbled, the only thing I noticed on the dash was "cruise disengaged" but there might have been more.

The fuel pump itself is grounded at the left rear outer frame rail. The fuel pump relay is grounded through SP122 (located under the battery tray) which is in turn grounded at G105(located on the left lower side of the block.
SP122 is notorious for getting corroded from exposure to battery acid.

Wow, thank you for the hint.........I'll check it out. There has been past battery acid damage before I owned the car.

How are you checking the DTCs and when are you checking them?? The reason that I ask is,,,,a grounded serial buss will cause the same symptoms but normally will leave some U series DTCs on the a few modules.
The next time that it happens, before you try to restart the car, just reach up and check the DTCs and see if theres any evidence.
