Okay I received my FAST manifold today and to my surprise it was broken. It was insured and looks to be USPS' fault. But I need to ship off my LS6 manifold NOW! SO if worse comes to worse, can it be fixed? I dont know if JB weld will hold it.. I know its not plastic so dont know if plastic weld will do either. There are tons of knowledgeable people on here. I hope some can chime in.. Thanks!
By the way it matches right back up. Looks like a good repair can be made. But the TQ setting of the bolt is what worries me.. I dont know if it can take it without breaking
Tough break, no pun intended. If it's any consolation, there's almost no torque on the 4 bolts used to attach the TB. The O-ring seals with very little pressure, so you could try epoxy. However, this means you have to live with the problem, since at that point, you can't claim damage.
I broke a bolt ear off of mine where the intake bolts to the heads.. I tried marina epoxy and about everything else. I gave up and bought a new outer shell.
FAST has the appropriate expoxy but want soemthing like $200.00 an ounce.
File a claim, order the outer shell. Outer shell is around $500.00. Maybe someone has an extra floating around. It does happen.
See if you can find a LS1 manifold cheap ansd put that on temporarily. Someone might even give you one. I'm sure there are plenty of them taking up space in someones garage. That way you can file your damage claim and keep your deal with the other member for the LS6 manifold.
I wouldn't try to repair it with epoxy. If you ever decide to sell it, nobody will want it unless you just about give it away.
Okay. Thanks for the advice. I am just pulling off the LS6 and shipping it. Hopefully I can find a LS1 intake around town for now. I feel if I fix it its going to be a constant burden. I am sure it will keep breaking and I don't want anything to worry about when I go on long cruises in the vet!
Once again thanks guys for the insight in my time of need!!!!!
What did the box look like when you received it? I would contact the shipper about it right away. Doesn't look like a good packing job. Anyway, you don't need to buy the entire FAST intake. Just buy the upper half and a new gasket and you're good to go.
My friend has some kind of glue that is for aircraft use. He uses it on different things on his planes. He said it is super strong so he showed me by gluing two pieces of plastic togethor. Honestly when ya tried to break the glue it was so strong that it broke the plastic beside the glue. I think that stuff would work perfect. I'll have to ask him what it's called and where he buys it. He orders alot of that stuff from some aircraft company or something like that
That flange does get a lot of side loading and I wouldnt trust an epoxy repair alone.
IF,,,,,,,you had to use that manifold,,I would make a stainless steel backing brace that would fit around that half of the flange and apply that brace on the back side of that flange and then epoxy the steel backing flange and broken piece in place. That would make a good repair.
Too bad that USPS takes the damaged manifold. It would make a fun repair project I would take that one on!!!!
I'll add that I wouldn't hold my breath on getting any dollars back from UPS on this..
About the only time they (or any carrier) will actually pay is when the box is completely lost and then it's still hoops of fire to jump through; you'll hear 15 different reasons about how the REAL issue here (in their opinion) is that the packaging / box used was not sufficient.

Good luck to you.
Either way...You have a leg to stand on with the vendor if it comes to that.
