A/C Issues

I replaced the AC compressor a couple months ago on my 98, but it's still acting a little odd. Is it normal on these cars for the AC to come on every time you use the front defog/defroster? No matter what temp I have it set on, the AC light always comes on as soon as I hit the defrost button.

Any ideas? I already have too much $$ wrapped up into the dumb A/C! Thanks!

Hi, the answer is yes. the AC will operate when the system is in the defrost mode.

Ok great. The compressor is making some odd noises too, but at least I know that this is normal operation. Odd, no other car I've had did that! Thanks!

Hi, actually most American Cars have operated that way for many years, while most foreign cars usually have a switch that give you the option as to whether to run the AC with the defrost mode or not.

If the AC didnt turn on with the defog, the warm air will fog ur windows more...thats what happens in FL cos of th ehumidity, so cold air is the only way to defog it
