Please take a look at my sig. I just had my 2002 dynoed today and got 316.8 RWHP 342.6 RWTQ (SAE Corrected). My baseline was 312.6 RWHP 332.7 RWTQ (SAE Corrected). Shouldn't I have gotten higher Hp numbers??? I only gained 4 RWHP and 10 RWTQ with the Blackwing and Corsa Pace Car Exhaust. Some insight would be greatful.
Check out an upcoming Corvette Fever mag's test of exhaust and possibly intakes installed in C5s. The intakes of 01s and newer C5s have been improved enough so that significant increases are a bit harder to come-by.
How is your A/F mixture? I did basically the same Mods on my 01 and started throwing codes indicating a lean condition. The difference in my case is that I used the Halltech Tric and the GMS MAF sensor. This was last summer in the Oklahoma heat. In the fall, the condition went away- Cooler weather I suppose. I have recently added headers to the mix and decided to buy an Autotap and check everything out. Turns out, I am running pretty lean +13-15 LTFT on the average. I have heard others talk about using a MAFT to adjust the Base and WOT settings to fine tune the A/F ratio. Many have found and unleashed those hidden ponies using the Autotap and MAFT combination.
Also, the engine will get stronger as you add miles. I bet you don't have many miles on that 02.

Bring down LTFT to about +5 with a MAFT/Autotap and you will shoot your pants :yesnod:
Cat back change aint going to get you much if anything, but with the claims of the Blackwing, I would have assumed more hp, but the 2001's + already have a few more horses than older models....that's why "it's harder" to get more hp out of them. Sounds better though, eh?? :)
It seems that headers and you can get anywhere from 6-22 hp, depending on the brand...
Wow... big disappointment. I was ready to do the same thing as you (except with a Vortex cold air instead of the Blackwing), AND had plans on getting the Corsa Touring. Somewhere in there I wanted TTS long tubes also... probably at the same time as the exhaust. BUT, frankly guys, I'm hearing alot of problems with error codes, problems tweaking out the trouble, guys asking for zap codes 'cause they've screwed up their engines using LS1EDIT.
If all this work, expense and frustration only yields a few more horsepower, one has to sit back and scratch the noggin with the obvious question... Why in hell do it? To spend $2K and get 20 or 30 horsepower net, imho we're way past the point of diminishing returns. Based upon what I'd been seeing previously, I was expecting 100hp+ for those mods. Perhaps that was a bit optimistic / unrealistic.
But I definately appreciate the post and information. You may have just saved me a bunch of grief and expense... since I haven't been able to find a good LS1 magician in this area anyway. Muchas Gracias. Mebbe I'll add the Z06 intake and just leave well enuff alone. But I sure would like to hear more rumble in the rear... I think the stock C5's exhaust is way too quiet & passive for what she's got under the hood.
I appreciate the post and the thread.

Not bad #'s when you consider that bone stock you should be at approx. 295-300 H.P. considering a 15% drivetrain loss. Realistically your only mod worth significant H.P. would be the intake anyway. Exhaust should not be good for more than 5 RWHP at the max.
Sounds about right!
I've Dyno'd over 60 C5's from stock to modifed. And yours sounds right for the amount of mods you have!
Exhaust only gives you a better sounding car. (No increase in HP or Torque)
Intake will give you the most bang for your buck! (10 to 16HP)
You want HP, go with Heads, Cam and Headers. You should get another 50 horse power.
Best of luck,
Tim
I am happy with sound from the exhaust, that's for sure. I just can't imagine while I would only gain 4RWHP with the Blackwing and Corsa. I can understand that there is not much gains on the exhaust but the intake, it should breath better than the stock air intake. What's wierd is that I can feel the difference in performance than before. I can more easily spin the wheels from a stop, maybe it's that extra 10RWTQ that i picked up. Is it the torque that spins the wheels?????
vstella - "You want to see and increase in H.p. and tq?....LOSE THE CATS!"
How about using high flow cats??? I need to keep it imissions-legal.

Get 10K on the meter and try again.. Mine really felt stronger at 10K and is still getting quicker.

You are probably right. I just need to be more patient. I do have high TQ Numbers compared to others from the Dyno Day so I'm really not complaining. But just spending all that money for a little bit of HP just didn't seem worth it. There is probably some hidden Hp/Tq with some LT Headers. I really don't want to get into the engine until it's official what the C6 will look like and what options come with it.
