Headlight wont stop running??????

The light goes up fine, goes down fine. The problem is this, the motor keeps spinning for about ten seconds after the light is down, making a grinding noise, then stops. So we took the motor off, opened it up (thinking the gear might have been missing teeth or broke? ) not the case, the gear looked to be in good shape, So what makes the motor keep running after the light is down????

You most likley have a stripped gear or the rubber clutch inside is bad allowing the motor to run after the light is in the stops. The head light control module senses increased current when the motor hits the stops. It cant do that if the clutch inside the motor is bad.
