In the past few weeks I’ve had issues with the fuel gauge on my 02 corvette. It will intermittingly go to empty. Sometimes it may go for days and others times it may be just a few minutes. I guess the first thing to do is clean the ground points and if that does help, replace the sensor in the tank. Does anyone have any other suggestion to start on first?
The fuel sender is probably one of the most common issues people have. Some people have had luck running some techron through the tank and resetting the code via the DIC. I did that the other day and it seemed to eliminate it but I'm sure it will come back at some point.
If you do a search theres a lot of posts on the fuel sender. The full replacement is the most expensive/complex of the fixes, but the Techron/reset trick worked for me.
I agree. The Techron is the usual fix for this. I would recommend a bottle of techron once every 3 months or so depending on how much you drive it. Even with the Techron, my '99 would still do this from time to time. There is a recalibration update for the PCM through GM, that I requested be uploaded. From that point on, my issues stopped.
