Default Hazzard flasher switch issue

I just bought a used 2003 and the emergency flashers are on all of the time! It looks like the flasher button by the center air vent is punched in and will not pop back out. How is this switch removed? Does the center vent pop out somehow?

Well Mike,

You need to pull off the dash to access it. Basically you need to pull the radio bezel off, the two side post ("A" pillars) and get a T15 and 7mm socket and remove the top dash pasd to access it.

It's a real PIA.

If you haven't already I highly recommend doing the flasher bypass mod.

Do a search on here for good links with pictures. Basically there is a bypass harness you can buy for $70 that you plug inline under the steering column that does away with the problematic stocker and fixes the flasher problems for good. You can also buy an electronic flasher, an older car headlight plug for the flasher to plug into, and a couple of splices. You cut the power wire to the flasher (pink, I think) and jumper a purple (I think) and your done for $12. Most people don't like to cut wires so the $70 plug and play flasher harness is the most popular, but I did the dut and jump way with help from a very good post somewhere on here with pictures. Either way it is very easy and your flashers won't quit on you or go crazy.

Here is a link to the cut and splice way I did mine.

Here is one of several plug and play harnesses out there.
