I asked Jim when he was going to make the TRIC in a composite form via e -mail and still have not received a response. The last guy I talked to on a different forum said Jim might discontinue the TRIC and not even put it in a composite form like he did with the T1 sidewinder. I wish he would make up his mind, It seems Halltech is into some other forums and is always adding additional information about his products along with being a supporting vendor. I cannot figure out why he is not on this forum?
I have an older halltech system and it is ausome I havent done any dyno test but I could notice the power difference mine is the one made of alluminum and u cut a 4" hole in shroud and filter is getting air off of air dam in front of car the shroud is only 45 dollars from a dealer if you dont want to cut your factory one up also the halltech guys were great with my questions and they even ordered and shiped me the shroud so i didnt have to cut my stock one this system looks pretty cool installed
Cruzmisl,
I have the Halltech Sidewinder. (all carbon fiber) Besides being as functional as any of the non-bottom feeders, and better than some,it also looks great!
I recently added the one piece carbon fiber engine cover and I've gotta tell you that if you like carbon fiber...this combo looks great!!
My vote..no bout adout it...Halltech!!
here we go,I had the mti and borla xr1 the car definately picked up,I added Lingenfelter ported tbody and halltech tric and mag,the car was definatly faster, have driven the car in down pours with both systems on,no problems,I would recomend but is it worth 400 dolars more than the mti unit,I doubt it.You will be happy with the Halltech.
I chose the Vortex because I was thinking of making something similar back in 98, when I saw the Vortex at a show back in 99,I bought it, it was exactly what I was thinking of. I have been happy with it. Tom
I have the Halltech "bottom feeder" and like it (love the look too). Having said that, I think this question is akin to the .270 vs .30-06 argument. I think it all comes down to personal preference.

He WAS on this forum and received a lot of positive press (ie increased sales) until the water ingestion issues came up and what he was denying about his product causing them. He then started going off the deep end with his comments and started verbally attacking his own customers (like the Hennesey stuff). He then cried a sorry tale and left the forum :mad
He reacted to the criticism very poorly. I haven't been to this section for a while so I don't know what has changed since then, but I personally would not do business with someone who acted as he did :yesnod:
If money is an issue, I would get the Vortex. The Halltech looks great and performs well, but I don't think it performs any better than the Vortex. I do think the Halltech looks better.
If you can spend the extra $$$ on something that looks better, get the Halltech, otherwise get a Vortex. Both me and a friend have identical C5's, we dyno'd them stock and they were within 2 HP of each other(me higher). We dyno'd them again me with a Vortex, him with a Halltech and I had a slight edge on HP on him. So they both performed similar gains, the dyno was done on the same dyno on the same day, back to back.
We went to the track and we ran similar times, my ET's were quicker because I can launch better, but our trap speeds were exactly the same(112 mph), with mine being just a hair faster, this was done on the same track on the same day, side by side.
We go to the highway and run from a roll and are side by side past 140 MPH, there IS NO DIFFERENCE in performance, just the price and the looks
Thanks for that great information. I was looking for someone that did your dyno testing and drag runs. I'm going with a vortex now, thanks for the help! :yesnod:
Given that the air duct looks better, but does not really add noticable horsepower, I went with the Vortex airbox only and have never regretted the decision. It was pretty reasonable especially if you do the recommended cutting of your own shroud on the car. The shroud removal is a complete pain in the butt.
This saves even more money for other performance mods. I certainly enjoy the look of carbon fiber, but putting it under the hood is a pricey option.
