Ok so the "service column lock" popped up in my garage this morning, so obviously I couldnt drive it for more than 5 feet without it stalling out. And after a few times of starting it, I looked at the fusebox and didnt even end up taking any out, then when I went to start it again, it said low voltage and some odd noise coming from the rear of the car. The column locked up on me before and I had it fixed at the dealer, so now i have no idea what the problem is. Any help is appreciated

Low voltage...Start with inspecting the battery cables for corrosion and security. If all is good, and your sure the battery is good, I'd inspect the ignition switch. In any case, post your codes.
Ya but the battery was fine, and I started it over and over about 5 times before it started doing this because of the fuel cutting off. I'll still check it out though. Just confused on the steering column thing because I already had that fixed...
Just because it cranks, doesn't mean there's enough voltage to run the electronics. You need at least 12.5 static voltage across the battery for the car to run. Itll turn over with less. Check the status of your battery, cables and the cables at the starter solenoid and do not forget that its electrically hot.
Probably just put a hurting on the overall battery charge from teh repeated starting of the car. Put it on a charger and top it off and I bet you're fine.
Ok I'm going to do that, but what about the car not being driveable due to the column lock and pull key wait 10 seconds crap? I already had the column lock thing done once, so I dont know where to go from here this time?
It all depends on which fix was actually performed by the dealership. If it's just the "flash" fix, which I assume is what they did, it's going to happen to you again sooner or later. The "flash" is temporary. I had the flash done on my car and it happened twice. I also had Santa Monica Cheverolet in CA replace the switch....OR SO I THOUGHT. The service manager said they replaced the switch and he was able to get it done under recall warranty. He lied.
Two years later (just three months ago) I got stranded at a friends house due to the damned thing locking up again. I had to have th car towed to a dealership and boy did I end up paying some $. When they took the coloumn apart they found that the switch was never replaced and that the plate was worn out as well. By the time they were done I ended up paying $1100.00. I bought a new battery as well. $1225 to fix what had been "fixed" three times previoulsy.
My brothers FRC has had the '"flash" band aid done twice now as well. It's just due time before he gets stuck again, unless he listens to me and buys the bypass.
Once it's fixed you should buy the bypass. Once it locks the bypass will not unlock it. FYI. You can try to jolt the steering wheel back and forth while it's locked. This worked on my brothers car but not mine. Unfortunately it's probably going to have to go back the dealership. Good luck!

8vette7, you've been a great help. And yes I will probably be pm'ing you before too long. Under the passenger floorboard compartment, there are a few purple wires that have been spliced and dont look like they belong there. Do these have anything to do with it?
