I want to have c6z06 shocks installed on my 98 c5. I would buy them myself (GMPartshouse) and have a repair shop install the four shocks. What would be a fair price for just the install?
Installing shocks is not difficult, i did myselef in about 3-4 hrs but i also did brake pads, and other cleaning stuff including lowering C5. I would assume 2 hrs of labor for the shop guys.

I guess it depends on what you call "fair". It's typical for shops to charge $60-90/hr for labor. Where you live can affect the labor rate as well. You need to shop around, with a high importance in selecting a shop that is familiar with your vehicle.

Hey I'm in Albuquerque. You think you can swing down and help me DynaMat my '03?
I did mine in about 2 hours by myself. Go to the "Events" section for your area and do a post for mod party. Not only would you meet some nice vette guys, you could learn a lot. $50 for beer and chips is a better investment than $140 at a garage. Good luck with it.

That would be a great idea but I have been working 6 days a week and always on weekends. That’s why I’m not considering a DIY project. Plus the fact I dont have jacks.

Try listing it......need help with shock removal/install, beer and pizza. In your thread list what you are doing, the day you'd like to do it, if you have tools or not, etc... If no one responds , well then go pay a shop to do it. There are a lot of vette owners/CF members in your area. I love helping people, as I'm sure a lot of ohers do too. You've got nothing to lose, and a lot to gain. I did mine myself, you can do this.
I'd go with the others and say probably about 2hrs. You could get some mechanics wire (or about 0.040" solid MIG wire) and tie the new shocks closed with it using a loop over each end (not in the bolt holes. Probably over 1/2 the time I spent with the C6Z06 shocks was trying to tie them closed enough I could get them in place.

I used enormous zip ties for keeping the shocks compressed. Same idea - different method. They were over at orchard supply.
