I'm having problem with fuel gauge and I searched and read about techron and went to pep boys and all I found was fuel injector cleaner with techron in it. Do I use this or do I need straight techron.
As pictured in the above post. Note that it might take two or three treatments to correct the issue. It improved my idle too. I put it in about every 3,000 miles now and only use Top Tier gas.
Techron is good, but Seafoam is better. I typically use it once per year to clean the injectors and get rid of the condensation built up in my gas tank

Where can I read more about the Seafoam cleaning sulfur build up? I can't seem to find any information on their website, but the Chevron website specifically states it about Techron.
To answer OP's original question, there is another product that sits right beside the Techron, looks just like it, but only has Techron additive in it, and it is a little cheaper.
You want the actual Techron concentrate, as pictured above.
I tried one bottle of Techron and still have the gas gauge issue...I might try another bottle, and if that doesnt work maybe I'll try this seafoam stuff everyone raves about.
where is the sensor for the fuel gauge located ?
is it a float , or sensor, in each of the two gas tanks ? or is it some type of electro magnetic doodad ?
2yr ago had gauge quit. Used Techron once, then Seafoam once. gauge started working, but would not go to full, just 3/4 even when tank topped out. After 3mo. the guage started working all the way to full. For last 1-1/2yr. gauge works perfect. I put Techron in couple of times over that period. May just take some time to work out the goo.
I'm not promoting the use of seafoam or techron, but from what I've read, Techron is the only product that specifically addresses the fuel gauge reading issues....not seafoam.

Yep, a 20oz. bottle of the Techron Plus / Concentrate is what to use........cost about $11.00, plus or minus a buck or two.
Have you tried resetting any codes in your DIC? My gauge went from 3/4 to empty a couple of times. All I had to do was reset any fuel related codes and it fixed my problem instantly.
Im having no fuel guage problems or anything like that. But i wonder if i should start using Techron? Preventative maint...
All I can tell ya I've always been a skeptic of any type of fix all additive that have come and gone over the years. Figured they were the equivalent of old time snake oils or tonics. When I first heard of Techron on this site I thought, yeah right, this little bottle of fluid is going to fix my fuel gauge! Again, I was in the skeptic frame of mind, except a lot of good folks here kept saying it would work. I start a search on the web and found out that the major fuel manufactures and car manufactures give it the thumbs up. To my skeptic surprise I tried it. It took two treatments, but my gauges started working again and have been fine since. That has been well over a year ago. There are other brand products that claim to work and they may. For me, I'll stick with the one recommended by the folks that built my vette. Techron. I also found it improved my idle a lot and fuel economy a little. I add it about every 3000 miles now.
