Default What do I need to run these headers???

I am new to this. I have been looking at headers for quite some time and have found these. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...-in-stock.html My question is I called and they said they were off road no emissions. What would I have to do to run these. Would it involve cutting wires off my car and having a tune to cut the codes out? Would the car even run after installing them to get it tuned? I am looking at the headers with the x-pipe. I have a 98. Also is there a disadvantage down the road with taking the emissions and sensors off, other than legal? Thank you for your help.

You would need to tune out the rear O2's and if there are no AIR fittings, then the AIR system would need to be removed by tune. I removed the AIR system on mine, really cleans up the underhood area and makes spark plug swaps a breeze.

And, yes, the car should run perfectly fine lacking the rear 02 sensors and AIR system prior to tuning.

The check engine light will likely appear, but that's the bulk of the reason for needing the tune changes, to extinguish it.

Would it be fairly easy to remove the air system? Or should I just go with something like the OBX headers? I am just looking for something reasonably priced and something I can install. Thanks again for your help.

The only kinda "difficult" part in totally removing the AIR system would be the bolt that secures the pass side tube to the rear of the pass side head. It generally means removing the intake manifold to access that bolt.

This seems to intimidate many folks, but all in all, pulling the manifold is really not all that difficult. Once you get the manifold off, or at least slid forward several inches, you can reach behind the right cyl head with a 15mm wrench, loosen/remove the bolt and fish the metal AIR tube out.
