C5 Stock Resonators....(?)
I've tried a search without much luck....
First, do C5's have resonators?
Second, will removing the resonators improve the exhaust sound without making the drone too loud?
My goal is to increase the sound level slightly, without spending a lot of cash on a cat-back system... I don't want it too loud. (I'm old and I'm cheap.)

There are no resonators per say. Rather than messing with emissions equipment which may not be legal depending on where you live, I would suggest looking for a used Z06 titanium exhaust in the for sale section. They can be had for a reasonable price, the look good, sound good (no drone, more throaty than stock), very light, and bolt in easily.

NO. There are NOT any resonators on any C5. The small cylinders just after the exhaust manifolds are pre or PUP CATS to help reduce cold start emissions. They are small and light off sooner than the down stream main CATS.
Removing or altering CATs will NOT improve your cars sound level. Adding Ti ZO6 CAT back mufflers will improve the sound of your car BUT,,,It will NOT ever make it sound like a true ZO6. The compression and CAM in a ZO6 is different than a base LS-1.
The ZO6 Ti mufflers will significantly improve the looks and remove 25 LBS of weight.
The only way that your going to improve the sound of your car is by adding an over the axel exhaust system. Find someone that has a system. Listen to it. If you like it COPY IT. Remember!! Engine mods can significantly effect the way an exhaust system sounds.
My Stainless Works complete LT Header system with a 3" mid pipe and over the axel muffler system sounded fairly tame at idle and part throttle. It was fairly loud at WOT! It had ZERO Drone. I added Heads. large cam and a FAST 90 & 90mm TB. Now the system is a beast!!!!
