I have read all of the post from Bill and i have checked a few of the grounds. What i am getting is ill be driving car runs perfect no check engine light or anything and ill be crusing along then it says reduced power and check engine light starts flashing also says service stability control. I am going to check a few more grounds in a bit but i was wondering if i anyone could direct me towards which grounds it should be or if there is something else i should be looking at. I have checked both grounds behind the headlights and there showroom clean. where else???????? this is on a 2001 z06 with 51k miles. also only codes that pop up is p0300 and 1286h and 1268h i believe. if someone has any ideas please feel free to call me. 5018272884
As I had the same issue as you, I think there is one for which you need to take the battery out to get at and the one that really did it for me was the battery terminal itself, even though the battery was new, it was the battery cable lug that had some green corrosion on it.
There is a ground behind both back wheels too that could use a cleaning as well.
I hope you get it sorted out as I had the full-on power reduction and all the lights and messages not long after I got my car this past February.
Went through all the grounds and the battery terminals and the problem has not come back since.
Not all circuits or sensors are grounded directly to the CHASSIS. Some sensors or components are wired directly to the module its self. It uses a reff wire and a signal wire that connect internal to the module. There are different terms for that type of internal module return wire like:
-Low Reff
-Signal Low
-circuit common
The control module its self grounded to a chassis ground. If the nodule is working as a whole but a function of that module is not working, the problem is usually in the single circuit off of that module.
The reason your seeing Reduced Power is caused by DTC 1286 APP Sensor 3 Circuit Performance. Is your car actually going into reduced power?? Or is it throwing the message and still running fine?????
Check you accelerator peddle connector and insure that its properly connected, not damaged and the wiring is not damaged. If all that checks out, the sensor may be bad.
All the components in the Throttle Actuation Circuit are descrete and not connected to anything else.
C-1268 is EBTCM related and means the right rear outlet valve solenoid is malfunctioning. Clear the DTC and see if it comes back.
When it goes to reduced power i can hold it on the floor and it may run 30 mph if im lucky... I dont wanna take it to the "Stealership" but i want my car running cause this is my daily driver....
