I've got 2 IAT DTC's 1 for high IAT voltage and 1 for intermittent high IAT voltage. I hooked my Tech2 up to clear them and it keeps coming back. I looked at engine details in the Tech2 and the IAT thinks its -38F out, the same as if it was disconnected. I swapped IAT's from a known good car and the new one did the same things. I checked over the wiring and jiggled everything while keeping a eye on the Tech2 to see if the temp changed and it did'nt. It does'nt look like there is an easy way to diagnose this but thought I would ask. Its gotta be running major fat right now thinking its -38F out. Does'nt matter if the car is running or not, it always registers -38F. Anyone know what this might be?
sounds like the wire to the IAT sensor is bad. mine was still connected but wasn't working..
Same here...happened to me twice. I had to re-wire the sensor with the upgrade harness that GM sells. I believe the connector itself was to blame the second time around because the wires were fine.
The part that I mentioed replaces just the two wires that go to the IAT itself. Easily installed in place of the main harness near the air bridge with some generic connectors. I'd give you the P/N if I had it. The parts dept. should have it in stock. The local ones here have everytime I've asked about it.
I just had exactly the same problem in my 99. I inspected the wires to the IAT, and they were a bit frayed. I replaced the wires and the plug on the IAT and it works great. I just cut the wires a ways back near the block , and connected them with the connectors supplied with the wires and plug. No more codes. It was a cost of about 21 bucks, and about 10 min worth of my time (more than 20 bucks :)). not sure of the part no. but got it from mak haik chevy parts dept. here in houston.
