Default C5 / LS1 Spark Plug Replacement (recommendations)?

Tiz the time to put in new spark plugs on my C5 (2000) any recommendations on plug selection (brand / part number)? AC delco (p/n 41-985) was recommended by the dealer. Any tricks to getting to the plugs or a special socket to get them out? Should I use PJ blaster to help release the old ones? Any contact grease recommended for the new ones? Best place to buy spark plugs? Web links to other post or web sites would be helpful.

Would anyone know how the Bosch Platinum +2 (2 ground electrodes) and +4 plugs (4 ground electrodes) stack up? Ref p/n 4305 & 4458 according to the web site the gap is not adjustable, will this be an issue?

the dealer gave you the correct plug for a stock motor
they work fine
forget the snake oil plugs

I use a double swivel impact spark plug socket with an impact extention from snap on.
works like a charm

a drop of oil on the threads is all you need

The stock Irridiums are a great plug with long life.

I have used Bosch +4 in ever car I have owned over the past 20 years except the C5. No issuees
I was happy with the Irridiums on the C5 so stuck with them.

Stock AC Delco are great, dont buy into the hype of aftermarket plugs.

I also use Bosch +4 on all my cars, including my C5, no problems, they run great.

BUT, I replaced my plugs in my C5 BEFORE the Irridiums came out, I would use the Irridiums now.

I use a universal joint on my socket and antiseeze on the new plugs' threads. A dab of diaelectric grease on the contact will make boots easier to remove in the future. Only one plug is tough, back one on driver's side.

Irridiums...Get some new plug wires also. You'll probably destroy a couple of your old ones when you take them off.

Am I the only one running NGK-TR55's?

Another vote for getting a set of plug wires while your in there. Gene culley has the red Z06 wires for $60 and the fit perfectly on the coils and the stock plug heat shields

Removing the wires was the hardest part of the job and I destroyed most of them. I also used the iridiums and red GMPP wires

I agree with using the Irridiums. I took four of mine out of my 2000 this weekend and after 40K miles they look like new. Replace your stock plug wires too. I am very happy with the MSD wires. Don't forget to use the heat protectors that were there from the factory. And as others have said, use anti-sieze on the plug threads and dielectric grease at both ends of the plug wires.

I've tried the NGK TR-55's each spring the last two years.
There must be a coating or plating on them cuz after 3500-6000 miles the
"H.P."-feel of these plugs are gone. But for those first few thousand miles, the NGK's are great.

On a new set of Delco plugs do you have to mess with the gap?

Got part numbers for new plug wires? I’m used to MSD products. I usually go to Summit for that kind of stuff.

I haven’t dug around that part of the engine that much, do you have to take anything else off beyond the plastic valve cover shields? I learned its best to get all the intel you can before diving in on C5 maintenance.
