When driving down the road my car died a few times the other day, then it went limp and said, service trac system and reduced engine power. It's been peridocally saying service engine soon, and also did the limp things a few times in the past... Now I can't get 5 blocks from my house without it doing it. And my a/c has suddenly been getting warm and sometimes its warm on drivers and cool on passengers. If the cleaning the body grounds thing doesn't work, what could it be? I cleaned the 2 under the hood and that's all i got to today.
I had a problem like this a while ago and just replaced the pigtail to the maf cause there was a split wire, it was fixed for months though. This car is being a real pain in the a$$!!
Pull your codes! Driving down the road and it dies is usually a case of the battery losing its connections, so while you are pulling the codes, you might also want to put a meter across the battery (engine and ignition off) and make sure you have at least 12.5 vdc static. If less, clean those connections and check the starter solenoid cable connections as that is the electrical distribution point for the alternator, battery, fuse boxes and of course the starter itself. Also, if when this happens, wiggle the ignition switch and see if it comes back to life. Are you going over any bumps when this happens?
If the HVAC is shutting down while in the limp home mode, that's normal. If its happening at other times, its not. Again, codes might tell the tale there.
I've got a bunch of codes, but I reset my computer and drove it around for 2 days and it's driving normal. I'll wait in see when it happens again... Hopefully it'll be good tonight cause I'm taking a little trip
