Default how to change rear diff

I tried searching under 'c-5 rear diff' . I found the post where Patches changed the rear by pulling the trans with the diff attached. Can i leave the transmission in and unbolt the diff, then slide it off the trans axle?

Thanks
-Greg

Yes. Detach from rear cradle while supporting tranny and rear and remove cradle then you can remove the differential.

Removing it as one piece (trans and diff) seems easier. I have done it a couple times. You will have to support the Engine so the angle doesn't become too great. Do a google search. I got a lot of info from Cajun Dude and others. It's time intensive, but not hard.

You havn't stated what you are wanting to do/change? If you need to just pull the rear. I think it's best to just support the trans/diff w/a j/stand under the trans. Drop the cradle and slide it out of the way.
Then drop the trans/diff to the approx height to pull just the diff out. put j/stand under trans again and remove the diff by itself. You don't need a stand under the motor. If you need more info, pm me. I did a diff change out on my Z this last spring, by myself.

For us we have found that pulling the diff sepeate of the trans is easier. It is not as bulky and easier to line every thing up when you go back together.
