rear end noise
I have a 02 coupe and I am starting to notice a noise from the rear end . My bfg's are about worn out but not sure if its the tires or the rear end . I dont drive the car hard , well not to hard and it has 48k on it . I guess my question is are there any problems with the rear end that I should be looking for , I guess I should change the fluid first and recheck. Any help would be great , thanks in advance.

Check to see if the tires car cupped or feathered. If you rub your hand in one direction and its smooth, then take your hand in the opposite and you feel the edges of the tread raising up, thats probably where your noise is coming from. I see it everyday at my tire store. (big 0 tires)

see if the noise changes any when you steer left to right going about 30-40 mph. I had a wheel bearing out in my 99frc making noise. I changed the diff fluid to make no difference... the best way to tell if you have a bad wheel bearing is to jack the car up with the tires off the ground, grab the tire from multiple angles and see if it has any play in it. should have very little, youll know if its bad compared to the side that is good.
