Au: 400 to wheels teh or CHP, i never saw anyone pulling that number at 3000 rpm. Do u also have ported or aftermarket heads? thats a friggin strong torque at 3k rpm....whew.

Yup and not telling any more.

Now that said. come 125+ mph on a long back straight road course, then I am toasted.

Nothing wrong with that if that is what you do. Torque down low is a beautiful thing and great when road racing on a course w/o long straights.

Just giving up huh?

Think about how I feel sometimes....

Even our very popular 224/228 cam on a 114 plus 1 would have carried quite a bit more upstairs without the penalty of much loss on the bottom where your current combo shines. I did alot of cam testing back in the day with 220 and 224 cams moving their installed position around on the dyno etc. A 114 cam (slightly wider LSA), in at 113 has a much later intake closing point and acts a bit like a larger cam when installed with those valve events. It would have softened your 3K torque just a tad, but average power and average usable torque would have been higher (and its the average that counts....no single data point is ever that important).

Now add a properly ported FAST to that equation and you would have seen an even stronger bottom end getting some of that back (with alot more instantaneous throttle response) while experiencing a big rush upstairs to the tune of another 20-25 RWHP.

That would have really balanced the package leaving you with a combination that would have exploded out of a corner and pulled hard on the longest of straightaways.....and alas, all it takes is more money!!

Good stuff....

-Tony

PS....On really short courses however, where your top speed is limited, obviously your current cam choice makes more sense but the ported FAST is still an excellent addition to that package and would help to give it a more balanced power curve (not come on like a freight train on the bottom and then hang its tongue out upstairs).

Naw not giving up. NEVER Give up. but sometimes. allowing a little blood to flow back out of the nads and up into the reasoning center of the brain does allow one to slow down a bit and KEEP safe.

Remember road races / track days not drag races. and there is lapped traffic after three laps. and safety and traffic management are important ( dont hit anyone)

Pm sent back to you Tony

Only car I have driven faster then mine, that I like were a Speed World Challenge C5, a C6ZR1, and a 996 GT2 GRand AM car ( wow ) of course most cars I dont drive that fast and I will not do more then 7/10s when it is NOT MY CAR.

Sorry OP always love to talk torque.
