Default Low torque numbers

My buddies C5 w/ prc ported LS6 heads, MS3 237/242 114 lsa, FAST 90, LS2 90mm TB, LG Street headers and tune did 440rwhp 382lbs-ft tq through the stock clutch setup. Why is the torque so low and how could he get the TQ higher???

I have:

g5x3 (rumored to be 236 / 242 or close to that)
cold air intake
lg street headers, ghl bullets

stock heads, intake, throttle body, etc.

435.7 & 405.7 (thanks to england green tune)

I don't want to start a war, but the first thing i would look at if that were my car is the cylinder heads and who ported them. That stuff is an art/science and there are only a couple of heads i would consider and only a couple people I would let change the port work.

Also the tune. My old tuner had it at around 426/386, EG managed to up those numbers a bit.

Also, if he has 410 gears or something like that, he will show different dyno numbers.

Cam is too big. Designed for high rpm use not low rpm torque

I have 224/224 581/581 112+4

407 rwhp and 405 rwtq

400 lb feet at 3000 rpms

for more high end HP

Possibly this one, but not sure on the low end torque

Can you post a dyno graph up?

There are a couple possibilities.

1. If the car spun the tires on the dyno you would see a spike in HP and a dip in torque this could be part of that.

2. Head to cam match up

3. Cam might be off as well. If it is either advanced or retarded a couple degrees that can throw this off as well.

I don't know how to post a dyno graph, but could I scan it and email to you?

We all want to see it. Just scan to a jpg file and save it on Photobucket. Then follow the instructions shown here:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/help...al-inside.html

It is as easy as falling off a log.

I have the same cam in mine but stock heads (241) and stock LS6 intake manifold and protted TB 412RWHP and I think 366RWTQ. I think you need a re-tune.

When I just had LTs (LG streets), CAI (V-ram) and tune on my '02 C5 w/stock 241heads, stock LS6 intake and stock LS1 cam, I made 351rwhp and 365rwtq. Your torque numbers are low too w/ the MS3. I spoke with Patrick G from Thunder Racing and he said that the MS3 loves high compression. 10:5 comp ratio is too low for this cam and it has a horrible DCR. He said it's an RPM cam and not suited for torque and that it was extremely weak in the low/mid range.

Anthony, can you elaborate on point #3. I've always thought my #'s were on the low side and maybe this is why? See Sig for mods.
Thanks

Advancing or retarding the camshaft can move the power band around. If you retard the cam it should move the power band up in the RPM range, conversely retarding it would move it back down.

Of course this is all going to play with how the cam is setup and your over all combo.

Thanks...maybe a combo of the converter being unlocked, A4 loss and stingy dyno are the cause of my percieved low #'s.

Its an MN6 so there isn't a torque converter issue. A stingy dyno would report everything low. The HP is computed based on the TQ, so everything would be low. Now, if the HP was low too, the dyno could be considered stingy, but that is a pretty big spread between HP and TQ.
