98 Headlight Problem??
98 Convertible the left headlamp works fine comes up and goes down. The right side will not come up. The motor does nothing. I checked the fuses and they are ok. Could the problem be in the module?
Try turning the manual over-ride a few turns and then try. If it comes up, your gear is stripped. If not, it could be module or motor or wiring. Make sure all connections are tight and not corroded first. Use a volt ohmeter to see where power is (or is not).
If the fuses are good, there are only a couple of components in the system The headlamp controller (mounted on the right forward frame rail behind the right headlamp) and the headlamp/multifunction switch on the column. The usual failure is the headlamp switch but first you'll need to know if the motor is getting any power at all. Also, the ground for it (I think its the one) is on top of right frame rail adjacent to the hood riser.
dgrant3830, he says the Left works perfect, in that case, it would not be the Headlamp Switch.
Yeah, that's possible unless the headlamp switch has a set of contacts for each lamp. I really didn't and don't know therefore I added it in there just in case. We've seen more headlamp switches lately too. In the OP's case, its probably as stated, the gear itself. The tale might be told if he's able to manually crank it up or not as the gear would have to work for that to be able to happen. Also, once its up, when the headlamps are switched off, does it close itself?

I tried the manual override and the light comes up but will not go down with the switch. My guess is that either a bad ground or the module is the problem.
