a shifting concern

good morning all, took the ride out last nite and could not get it in 6th , so I tried something different , at 65 in 5th gear I punch it and at the same time dropped it into 6th, went rite in. So I put it in compmode and lite the tires up in 1st and 2nd, I do love this car it is a dream to drive! guess I will have to pull the tranny this winter to see what is wrong, but want to keep it all original. thanks for the reply's, and all have a beautiful day

Before you get in too deep I would try a simple shifter realignment. There is a great step by step on RPM's website.(click on links) If nothing else you'll become familiar with the proceedure since it has to be done if you pull the trans and reinstall it. I had a problem grinding 4th to 5th and realigning the shifter solved it! All it costs is some time.
