I have 99' Vette. More and more I drive my car, I hear squeaky noise coming from my targa-top.  Is everybody having same problem? If so, can it be fix? Please help................... :smash:
Well I have a 99 targa top doing the same squeak. this info I got from other CF members. They told me to use white lithum grease on each striker thats attached to the windshield. I did and the squeak is gone. hope this helps you too.
I treat ALL the rubber with a silicone spray lube, no squeaks so far. Someone told me that there is a silicone grease available from Ecklers which maybe easier to apply but this has worked for me so far.
I get those squeaks too, I need to put some more silicone grease on there, seems worse when it is cold out and it is not always constant, some times it squeaks, other times it doesn't.
Yes what you need to do is remove your top then at the front roof windshield mounts you will find a little roller on each mount now take sone oil (put a rag or paper towel under it) and put some oul on the roller moving the roller back and forth so you work the oil into the roller and that's it the roller gets dry and creeks as the moves on it's mount, you can't make it tight enough to stop it form moving and it should be able to so you need to keep the little rollers lubed to keep them quiet.
To be honest, any targa top is going to devlop a bit of a squeak and flex (not just the Vette).
The usual recommendation is to keep the seals really clean and well lubed. Just takes a few minutes to damp cloth and grease the rubber (hmmm.... that sounds sort of nasty :o)
As a side note on weather stripping. Especially T-Tops and Targa roofs.
Whenever you wash a car with these it is important to remove the roof panels and clean the seals. What happens is that over time really fine dust and dirt finds its way onto the seals. As the car flexes, this slowly grinds away at your seals. It also leads to them drying out and falling apart.
Then the leaks start.
If you will pull off your top, clean the seals and put a good silicone based dressing on the rubbers, the y will last infinitely longer.
The only problem with silicone is that it contaminates the paint, and if you ever have to repaint a car, it can really be a pain to get it off so it doesn't "fish-eye".
Also in regards to the squeaking. My Boss has a '99 Coupe. When he turns or pull into a prking lot, I hear squeaks in the back. It almost sounds like rear bushings or rear suspension.
Also anyone else notice how the vette in general creeks and squeaks more when it is cold outside.... my guess cause the plastic shrinks :yesnod:
