About due for some new tires and thinking about changing and getting away from the run flats. My question is how wide of a tire can I put on the stock rear wheel on a 02 coupe , what brand does every like the best. Thanks for the info
I went with KUHMO and I love them but I didn't widen I stayed with factory specs. One thing you will realize that once you leave run crapps you will enjoy the ride oh so much
With stock wheels, I personally wouldn't go larger than 285/35s, but you can definitely go wider with Z06 wheels. I am a huge Goodyear GSD3 fan - amazing tires, dry and wet.

I am also in need of tires for my '04 and have been wondering if I go run flat do I stick with factory or look at getting away from run flat. I will be watching the comments on your post to see what the opinions are.

GET RID OF THE RUN-FLATS. Your Corvette will love you for it. The ride is 100% better. I dont regret it one bit.

Because I'm a cheapskate, I went with Sumitomo HTRZ IIs. They're $80 front and $110 rear at TireRack. I have been very pleased with these tires. They were a little noisy at first, but after about 300 miles that went away. Grip is excellent ... no tread squirm at all even right after I put them on. The front's treadwear rating is stupid low though at 220, but hey at $80 a pop I can wear out 2 or 3 of these for the price of an F1.
thanks for all of the reply's and I do have a small air pump for the car I just need to get some plugs or some sort of flat repair to put in the vech along with the pump.

understand the logic BUT the kumho spt is a FAR superior tire for just a little more money.
to the OP, you need a goal before any real advice can be made. do you need
1. max dry traction?
2. all season?
3. 3 season?
4. what can you spend?

You can keep the TPS system. The non flat tires are just like run flats. Except for the built up part in the center.
I went cheap with Falken 452's on the back. I just checked this weekend and it's been a year since I put them on and they are wearing extremely well. The tread wear rating was good as well except I can't recall the number. I will be replacing the Kumhoes on the front with the 452's shortly.
Goodyear GSD3s on mine..
I heard they are being discontinued from some other Cf members 2 weeks ago.
Tirerack had limited amounts left and were pricing them to move.
Better hurry if its the tire you want!
