Default Stalling out at idle/reverse

Someone did a number of mods to the engine of this beast and it's making daily driving a nightmare..

I just got it in a few weeks ago and am not as tech savvy about the engine as I'd like to be...but here's the problems so far;

If I'm under 2k RPMs the car starts to buck like a bad shift. It's not so bad in higher gears, but 1st - 3rd really kicks back.

If I don't hit 40mph for at least a mile a bomb explodes...no wait, that was in a movie... Actually what happens is the car will drop VERY low in RPMs and start to shake and then pick itself back up again for a few seconds, then repeat until I start moving again.....unless of course I'm in heavy rush hour traffic and at a stop light on a hill...then it stalls out It will also stall out if I put it in reverse too quickly after driving in first gear (like if I'm driving through a parking lot and put it in reverse to back in). It's mostly on hills and seems to do alright on level ground, but still will drop RPMs to nearly zero and almost stall out and I have had it cut out 1ce now on just a plain level surface.

Obviously it has a FAST intake. I don't know if you need to have a 90mm throttle body as well or what size this is? It looks like the MAF was removed. Not sure if I need to get a 90mm one as well or where it slips in (before or after the air bridge)...but I'm thinking that has a lot to do with it....I was trying to find the MAF connector plug, but it seems to me that they spliced the wires and did something funky to it or I have the wrong plug. I took some pics of the engine if you want to take a peek and can instruct me on what the hell is going on in there. Check it out;

Any thoughts? I'm not too familiar with all of the mods yet, so still getting up to speed on what is modified or needs to be. Or perhaps it needs a simple tune-up. Not sure.

Thanks all!

You my friend,,,,,need a PROFESSIONAL tune! I have a BIG cammed ZO6 and I can easily drive in 6th gear at 1200-1500 RPM without issue.

The TUNE makes all the difference in the world! Your NOT that far from Chuck "CORVETTES OF WESTCHESTER"... If nothing else,,,call him and discuss your issues. I bet ya, once you get done the conversation,,,you will schedule a tune with him. The man is a tuning wizard!

I added just HEADERS, VARARAM and a ported TB to my 06 Coupe and the economy and driveability went down the toilet. CHUCK fixed that in an HOUR! The man is amazing!!!!!!!! The car runs better and has better fuel economy than it did when it was STOCK!!!

Your car can run good again. You just need the correct tuning skills. Tell him Bill Curlee sent you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that it appears you have some tuning issues. You might also have some kind of vacuum leak causing the stalling.

Sounds like you have a very big cam. What you are encountering is common with large cams. The problem when driving at low rpms is called cam surge. The problem with the idle is called hunting.

There are 2 basic types of tune. One uses the MAF, while the other one which is called a speed density tune does not.

If I were you I would ask the previous owner for information on the mods and also who the tuner was and what type of tune. Hopefully, that tuner did not lock the pcm or you are in for a big hassle.

Hope things work out for you.
