How to know when the clutch need to be replaced, how many miles can a stock clutch do on a 04 Z06???
If need replace what the best clutch to go for???
IS it an easy job??
Like any clutch equipped vehicle, there's no set mileage where a clutch needs replacing. You know it's going when it starts slipping, or starts NOT disengaging, leaving the pedal stuck to the floor. First thing to do is completely change the fluid in the res. until it's clean. This takes a great deal of DOT 3-4 fluid, and you need a shiphon. Sometimes this takes care of your problem of pedal sticking, but if it's slipping, you will most likely need to replace your clutch components. These consist of the clutch/flywheel combo, a GM slave cylinder, and either a GM, or aftermarket master cylinder. A very good idea when doing a clutch is the addition of a remote bleeder line. It's a very big job, and unless you are mechanically inclined, I wouldn't recommend a DIY.
Does your clutch have any problems?
How many miles on it?
It is an easy job,but it takes some time (by easy I mean you remove a lot of "stuff",then you put the "stuff" back where it belongs, not rocket science, but time, patience, cussing, and beer are a few "musts")
Check out Dope's writeup here:
I recommend changing the slave cylinder,T/O bearing, pilot bearing, and installing a remote bleeder while you're in there.
Tick's remote bleeder makes it a one man job to bleed the clutch or change the fluid ,definitely worth the $50.
car got 25K miles.
I'm driving pretty hard all the time and pedal get really soft when driving around town, using clutch a lot (wheel spinning, hard acceleration at traffic light...)

99% chance that it is FLUID related. Start there first. Search for the Ranger Method. At 25K the clutch should be fine (assuming stock power levels).
