I have posted this question a few times and took everyones answers and tried each. I have a high pitched whine coming from my car only when i hit the acceleractor i htink i have narrowed it down to the transmission, or right under the shifter someplace not the rear end as expected. The whine only occurs when I hit the gas pedal and is higher pitched in 4th 5th and 6th gear. With this new info does anyone have any idea what it could be? Throwout bearing possibly?I changed rear end gear oil, that was not the problem. Transmission was flushed a month or so ago.
If it was the throwout bearing, when its happening, if you push in the clutch a little, the whine would change. Truly, you need to get under the car and simulate the driving condition when the whine happens. What would be nice is to have it on a dyno that you could get safely under. You might want to contact RPM Transmissions and ask for their advice
Can you put the car on jack stands and make the noise happen with the car stationary. Possibly loading the drive train using the E brake. With the car stationary, you can remove the shifter boot and use a mechanics stephasocpe and listen to the front troque tube bearing area. If it coming from that area it will be louder in one spot.
Seems very faint in three and once your going up in gears it gets louder each gear this noise is not present just revving engine or stationary nor does it make it when i depress cluth if i do not hit the gas pedal you still dont hear the noise but as soon as i hit gas it starts and is loud whine only radio drowns it out ......
