Default Billet Jacking Pucks

Was just snooping around in the Mall and found some billet aluminum jacking pucks. Anyone got a set of these? How is the quality and how do they fit? I have the hockey puck set but I think these might be better to put on for when someone doesn't have a set.

I bought 4 from ZIP. I didn't like idea of the rubber ones, worried about deformation.

They work great. Used them both to jack up and also to place jack stands on. You just twist them 180 degrees and they "lock in", easy to get out also.

I followed the instructions on 97Vette's Page and made my own... I think it cost me $9 total!

Dumb question but...I understand using them for jack stands, but do you need them to jack up car for changing one tire for instance?

Rather than driving car up on wood blocks (this is always dicey, what with the tires spinning and throwing wood), i use one floor jack, on puck, to jack up car enough to get another floor jack (with a block of wood between jack and car) under center back support to jack up whole rear end.

Hey Along4theRide,

-It was his pictures of the pucks under load, that convinced me that I should get solid aluminum ones!

-I couldn't see dropping my vette for $40 difference!

-You really do get them up in the air, it's scary enough without soft pads!

Since there are many optional and prefered places to jack up the car, the answer is yes and no. If you are jacking to say, do a tire change in an emergency situation, the chances of you getting a Corvette specialist in a tow truck operator is not very good. Even Chevrolet dealers sometimes dont have the right equipment and knowledge to jack up the Corvette properly, or even if they do, they just ignore it. I personally carry between 2 and 4 of these jacking pucks when I venture out of my garage. While it is l"ess than safe" without jack stands, in a pinch the jacking puck can hold the car up for just a tire swap. Of course the big caveat is not to be under the car when you are doing it this way, for you risk injury and possible death in the worst case, and on the equipment side, damage to body/frame/ suspension parts. So no, not a dumb question at all.

Oldvetter,

I have found them to work just fine and not to deform as much as shown in the photo's ... I however rarely use them and carry them for "just in case" situations mostly. I own a lift and use that way to lift the car unless I need to remove a wheel.

Some of these pucks are actually thicker than others. The thicker ones may not work if your car has been lowered, which is the case for me.

Vettenuts

I have 4 billet aluminium jacking pucks from West Coast Corvette. I am interested in selling them if you are interested. I recently put on andy's rocker rails and no longer need the jacking pucks. Let me know if you are interested.

I looked at the ZIP site and didn't see them. Do you have the link?

Here it is:
http://store.yahoo.com/corvetteforum/19jacin.html

By the way, you turn them 90 degrees, not 180.

Is that price for 1, 2 or 4 pucks? If the ad says, I didn't see it. Thanks.

They show 4 in the picture, I would hope so for $55.

I was thinking of making my own:
http://97vette.com/howto/liftpads/index.html

But I would add some .125 aluminum or stainless steel to the top, bottom and inbetween the hockey pucks. I do like the idea of the added height of the double pucks. Any thoughts?

RDVT4ME,

I also have the rocker rails. Why don't you need the pucks anymore? Can or would you place a jack on those rails? I too have serious concerns about raising my vette.
