Default Black Box Mounted in front of PCM...

What is it?

Looks like one electrical harness plugs into the bottom of it.

Yep, he is correct...TAC. Its a rather important item that controls the throttle.

There should be TWO plugs on it.

If you look closely at this pic, you can see the second connector opening.

Guess I have not heard much about these going bad? Of course, I have heard not of too many PCMs going out either?

They do go bad. A friend had one go bad just before a trip.

the 97/8's used to puke these all the time, it's a great place for salt/moisture to get into directly aft of the front wheel

there have been a few 1000 C5's w/ leaky batteries, sulfuric acid=not good
