Default Bad Wheel bearing???

I haven't jacked the car up to check yet but when turning the car very sharp, almost at lockout I get a clunking noise/feel in the car.

I'm assuming this would be due to a shot wheel bearing? Weres the best place to get a replacement?

The cheapest replacements I've located are on the auction site, Like $70 for a front, and $130 for a rear.

If you turn one way and it makes a noise and then goes away turning the other way good chance it is a wheel bearing.

You can jack the car up and if you can hear clicking or can move it while pushing the top and pulling the bottom of the tire than another good chance it is the bearing.

It could be a tie rod though which you can check by pushing and pulling left and right.

It could also be a lose swaybar so I check to make sure all the bolts are tight.

If it is the bearing you will need the full wheel hub assembly. Timken or skf (non racing skf) are good but don't go through gm parts they will rape you. Autozone has them.

If you have a manual you can do the job yourself.

There is another possibility too...your wheel alignment may cause a tire to drag or jump when the steering wheel is turned all the way. So before spending cash on wheel bearings, if they were bad, you would probably be getting problems in any turns, even easy ones.

I still haven't had a chance to lift the car, I'll do this tomorrow, but I grabbed ahold of the top of the wheels today and tried prying back and fourth, I'm fairly certain I could feel some play in the front drivers side wheel even with the car on the ground, I'll jack it up tomorrow and see what the damage is.

Anyone have any info on a company called Powertrain Components? It looks like they make the $70 bearing (Item #280437953896), but I can't tell if it has the ABS parts; I'll have to call them tomorrow and find out.

The other on is $140 (Item #230404258369) an it looks like it's a GM part, either way though it comes with a lifetime warranty.

Could also simply be the differential. Limited slip diffs can make some noise in tight turns, as the friction pads slip......... It's most noticeable when things are quiet and you're going slow.
