Dropped a key inside battery tray.... help!!!
Was trying to replace my battery on the Z06, when I was unscrewing the bolt that block the battery in place the socket and extension jump from the screw and fell off in the hole on the side of the battery and the fuse box....
looked at the way to get it back but doesn't look easy at all.
Does any one made the same mistake and knows how to access it???

It's happened to me, there is a good chance you can get to it if you remove the battery and battery tray. If it is further down then remove the front wheel and the PCM access panel.
Have fun!!

Have you try a magnetic fishing tool?

It might be easier to just remove the inner fender liner and get it the first time.

X2 If it went in easy it'll come out easy with a magnet on a stick. Good luck.

Sears (and others) sell a lighted magnet light that is retractable. It has gotten me out of numerous jams such as yours.
Good Luck

Cool!! Does the light help the magnet see what it needs to pickup?

I have dropped 27 items down there, x4 13mm bolts to remove the tray, it always sits on the frame rail
1/4 air ratchet works fast
you can throw the magnet about 20 feet after you spend 30 minutes fishing
re: Bill C's post, good info, a good fist tap on the bottom of that closeout panel will indicate an item is lurking there, you hear the tap

I lost a socket there too when I replaced my battery. I tried the magnet extension tool but it was hard to see. I removed the battery tray (just remove the bolts) and got it out.

The lighted magnet should help locate the stuck hand too.

Learned the hard way that whenever I'm messing around with the battery to always stuff shop rags around the sides of the mounting plate and in the hole in the bottom of it, then pull 'em out once the battery is mounted!

Yesterday I was replacing the clock light in my Accord and a tiny screw fell into the dash, thought it was gone forever, got a flexible shaft magnet, stuck it in and got it the first try, wonderful things ,those magnets.
