Default A/C light keeps coming on

Hey guys, when I am adjusting my climate control the dumb A/C light illuminates and I have to press the button to turn it back off. It's pretty cold here so I have been setting it to about 75 to warm up and defrost the windows but the A/C light still comes on. Is this normal or should I get a new unit? I haven't stood outside to see if the compressor is engaging but it doesn't sound like it from inside the car.

So you are concerned that the A/C light comes on when you have defrost selected?

Default AC Lights

Don't worry it's normal. Whenever you have the air set to defrost the ac will come on. If you dont want the ac to come on set your memory to any other setting. Hope this helps.

Its normal

Heres the description from the Owners Manual:

The air conditioning cools and dehumidifies the air coming into
the vehicle. The air conditioning cannot be turned off in
defrost and defog, as it helps to remove moisture from
the vehicle. It also helps to keep the windows clear.

That is correct. If you have the defroster on even when not wanting AC, the AC will be on to defog the windshield. Now, if you want to turn the AC light off (will turn off the windshield defogger) change your MODE using the mode switch to deselect the defogger, then push the AC button and it will come off.

Good Luck

Thanks everyone, I was worried it might be a dreaded electrical issue but now I know it's normal and I can breathe easier.
